Issues: Education

With both of our kids, Morgan and Jack, just getting started with their academic careers, education is the biggest concern for both Mandy and me.

The state needs to stop putting our kids' futures on layaway by not helping to fund a well-rounded education. Instead, we need a Delegate in Richmond who will fight to:

1. Get Loudoun and Prince William counties our fair share. State formulas should ensure we get our fair share of school funding to prepare kids for Northern Virginia's high-tech economy. And when it's our tax dollars helping fund Virginia colleges and universities, we need to make sure our kids are first in line.
2. Spend wisely. We need to make sure schools spend wisely so we can move more money into the classroom, increase teacher pay and reduce class sizes.
3. Increase local control. Loudoun and Prince William counties need more flexibility to implement innovative ideas and to deal with the unique issues we face.
4. Demand accountability. We need to set standards and expectations as a community for our schools and then hold parents, teachers and lawmakers accountable for making sure our kids succeed.
5. Partner with high-tech firms. With so many tech companies in our area, our kids will have a leg up if we encourage more partnership with local businesses.
